The primary business objective is to expand the customer base and explore new market opportunities.

The secondary business objectives include:

  • Enhancing the user experience of the Desktop App to drive increased usage among Comcast customers.
  • Improving time efficiency through the implementation of SMS functionality in the desktop app.
  • Increasing the number of digital workplace users by enabling seamless business meetings through video conferencing.
  • Enhancing the competitiveness of the desktop app through a unified product offering.

By focusing on these objectives, the aim is to drive business growth, improve user satisfaction, and maintain a competitive edge in the market.

Work Plan: Key Activities

The work plan encompasses the following activities:

  1. Identifying the needs and preferences of the target market.
  2. Creating a concise problem statement that clearly defines the challenge at hand, outlining the scope and focus of the project.
  3. Clearly articulating the needs and goals of the users through user need statements or point-of-view statements. This ensures alignment on the problem to be solved.
  4. Conducting comprehensive research on competitors and similar solutions to gain insights and inspiration for the design of the app.
  5. Exploring products from other areas to gather additional ideas and insights that could be applied to the business communication desktop app.
  6. Implementing the JTBD framework to understand the underlying motivations and desired outcomes of the target audience.
  7. Simplifying design tasks where necessary to optimize efficiency and effectiveness in the design process.
  8. Facilitating workshops, if required, to collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment throughout the project.
  9. Utilizing techniques such as card sorting and tree sorting to organize and structure the information architecture of the app for enhanced usability.
  10. Conducting task analysis to gain a deeper understanding of how users currently complete tasks and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  11. Maintaining regular and effective communication with the Product Team, Developers, and Stakeholders to ensure a collaborative and aligned approach throughout the project.

The UX roadmap for the business communication desktop app has been crafted based on user research, ensuring a user-oriented approach. However, the UX team acknowledges that flexibility is crucial, as new variables or challenges may arise during the development process.

Throughout the roadmap’s creation, valuable input was gathered from the Product Team and Developers, fostering collaboration and securing their support. By including their perspectives and expertise, the roadmap is strengthened and aligned with the overall goals of the project.

The UX team remains committed to monitoring the evolving needs of the users and responding to any emerging variables or issues. This adaptive approach allows for continuous improvement and ensures that the roadmap remains aligned with the ever-changing landscape of business communication and user expectations.
